Description:
Good Energies Alliance Ireland (GEAI) is an Environmental NGO based in County Leitrim, Ireland, that works through research, advocacy, education and campaigning to influence public opinion and decision-makers in Ireland to implement sound policies that will combat climate change; to take part in the youth-based international movement to fight climate change and to encourage the movement towards community-based sustainable energy sources and uses. Our main objectives are: - To raise awareness of the impacts of different energy resources on the environment, the planet and people, and to publicise these through advocacy, the effective use of social, print and other media. - To work with young Europeans to foster their professional, personal and social development through participating in environmental projects and campaigns. - To employ campaigning activities and advocacy to influence decision-makers at all levels in Ireland (local, regional, national) towards sustainable energy sources and uses. - To involve young people in Ireland and Europe in the activities of GEAI and in national and EU decision-making processes through participation in EU-funded Youth programmes and coordination of youth projects.
Activities:
Our purpose is to raise awareness of and encourage communities and young people to be active in the fight against climate change. We promote sustainable energy sources and uses and participate in international youth projects. We run campaigns based on social media, political advocacy and community networking. We want someone to join our team of four volunteers, preferable with a journalistic/social media or event management/promotion background. Tasks include helping with social media, event management, website management, report writing, presentations, press releases, etc. We focus on improving the capacity of our young people, personally and professionally. We encourage volunteers to carry out projects of their own choice.
